چکیده

In the framework of a multi-phase transport model (AMPT) with both partonic and hadronic interactions, azimuthal correlations between trigger particles and associated scattering particles have been studied by the mixing-event technique. The momentum ranges of these particles are 3 < p T < 6 GeV/c and 0.15 < p assoc T < 3 GeV/c (soft), or 2.5 < p trig T < 4 GeV/c and 1 < p T < 2.5 GeV/c (hard) in Au + Au collisions at √ sNN = 200 GeV. A Mach-like structure has been observed in correlation functions for central collisions. By comparing scenarios with and without parton cascade and hadronic rescattering, we show that both partonic and hadronic dynamical mechanisms contribute to the Mach-like structure of the associated particle azimuthal correlations. The contribution of hadronic dynamical process can not be ignored in the emergence of Mach-like correlations of the soft scattered associated hadrons. However, hadronic rescattering alone cannot reproduce experimental amplitude of Mach-like cone on away-side, and the parton cascade process is essential to describe experimental amplitude of Mach-like cone on away-side. In addition, both the associated multiplicity and the sum of pT decrease, whileas the 〈pT 〉 increases, with the impact parameter in the AMPT model including partonic dynamics from string melting scenario.

Methods for Jet Studies with Three-particle Correlations

We present a method based on three-particle azimuthal correlation cumulants for the study of the interaction of jets with the medium produced in heavy ion collisions at RHIC and LHC where jets cannot be reconstructed on an event-by-event basis with conventional jet finding algorithms. The method is specifically designed to distinguish a range of jet interaction mechanisms such as Mach cone emis...

2 A pr 2 00 9 Collision system size dependence of di - hadron azimuthal correlations in ultra - relativistic heavy ion collisions

The system size dependence of di-hadron azimuthal correlations in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collision is presented by a systematic simulation with a multi-phase transport model. Clear participant path-length and mean number of parton collisions dependences of the associated particle yield and the structure for the away side correlation functions are observed. The splitting parameter D and RM...

Drell - Yan Scaling in Semi - Inclusive Electroproduction ”

The scaling behavior of deep inelastic single-particle inclusive electroproduction (or neutrino production) expected from the parton model has been given by Drell and Yan as v 3 g&2 when the observed hadron has a finite fraction of the virtual photon’s laboratory momentum. Although Drell and Yan give the correct scaling behavior with their choice of variables, we show that with variables more a...
